Frequently Asked Questions

Learn about drag controls, dual-pivot friction, Inks & Inkstones currency, Render signaling servers, and Godot 4 engine technical details.

🎯 Gameplay & Controls

Touch or click and drag backwards from your pen to set the angle and impulse force. The on-screen trajectory arrow displays your launch direction. Dragging farther increases release velocity up to the maximum drag threshold (max_drag_limit = 200px with impulse_multiplier = 10.0).

In real life, a pen’s cap has higher weight and friction than its hollow tail. Battle Pens replicates this in Godot with two distinct friction points: cap_friction (5.0) at the cap pivot and tail_friction (0.8) at the tail pivot. Flicking near the tail causes the pen to spin naturally around its cap anchor point.

Each pen comes equipped with a unique ability. For example, the Classic Ball Pen has Spin Shot (deflects incoming strikes), the Donalds Trymad has Curve Shot (bends mid-air towards the enemy), the Turbo V7 has Power Shot (9.0x kinetic blast), and the Larper Sector has Golden Shockwave (colossal radial burst).

💰 Inks & Pen Shop Currency

You earn Inks by winning matches against AI bots in Single Player mode or against friends in Local 2-Player mode. Inks are stored in your encrypted local save profile and can be spent in the Pen Shop.

Inkstones are premium consolidated currency: 100 Inks = 1 Inkstone. The in-game Converter popup allows you to convert between Inks and Inkstones to unlock high-tier items like the Larper Sector.

⚙️ Engine & Multiplayer Infrastructure

Battle Pens is built with Godot Engine 4.7 using the lightweight GL Compatibility and Vulkan renderer pipelines. It features custom RigidBody2D physics and encrypted local configuration saves.

Online multiplayer utilizes WebSockets hosted on Render as a signaling server paired with Google Public STUN servers (stun.l.google.com:19302). Once players match using a 6-digit room code, gameplay physics and pen movements synchronize directly peer-to-peer with zero lag and no user tracking.

No. Battle Pens currently contains zero third-party advertising SDKs (no AdMob, no Unity Ads) and zero analytics trackers (no Firebase, no telemetry profiling). Your game data stays 100% on your device.
